Éder Militao’s serious injury has forced Real Madrid to consider signing a new centre-back.

The Whites are considering a long list of candidates which does not seem to include an old player, the Andalusian Sergio Ramos.

Last Saturday, Real Madrid secured a victory against Osasuna, but the match brought some unfortunate news: Éder Militao’s injury.

The Brazilian has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be sidelined for an extensive nine months.

This situation has left Real Madrid’s defense in a precarious position, especially since they were unable to replace Nacho Fernández over the summer and are also dealing with injuries to David Alaba and Dani Carvajal, who has occasionally filled in at centre-back.

Numerous names have emerged

It’s no surprise that, following the news of Militao’s injury, speculation about signing a new defender for the upcoming winter transfer window has intensified.

In today’s edition, the newspaper AS has revisited this topic in the real madrid transfer news today, ruling out a return for Sergio Ramos (who is currently without a team).

The newspaper highlighted Spanish international Aymeric Laporte (Al Nassr, 30 years old), Frenchman Castello Lukeba (RB Leipzig, 21), and German Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen, 28) as the top options.

OK Diario has broadened this list to include a variety of players such as Spaniards Cristhian Mosquera and Yarek Gasiorowski (both from Valencia; 20 and 19 years old, respectively), Portuguese António Silva (Benfica, 21), Argentine Cristian Romero (Tottenham, 26), and even Togolese Djené Dakonam (Getafe, 32). Who will ultimately be the chosen one?
