FC Barcelona continues to monitor Dário Essugo, a midfielder they attempted to sign last summer.
The Portuguese player is currently on loan at UD Las Palmas from Sporting de Portugal.
Last summer, in a bid to bolster their midfield, FC Barcelona sought to acquire Dário Essugo.
The Catalan club reached out to his team, Sporting de Portugal, but the talks ultimately fell through.
Barcelona was interested in a loan deal with an option to buy, but the Lisbon club firmly rejected the idea of allowing the player to be purchased by the Catalans at the end of the season.
Consequently, they turned down three other offers and accepted the one from UD Las Palmas, who were content with a straightforward loan arrangement.
New attempt to Sign Dário Essugo
Nevertheless, Barça has not ruled out the possibility of signing the midfielder in the future.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the Blaugranas are keeping track of a player they find intriguing for their plans ahead.
So far, the Portuguese has participated in eight official matches with the island team, gradually establishing himself as a vital player.
At this point, it seems unlikely that Sporting will change its stance come summer. The club believes Essugo possesses the potential to thrive in the first team and will not entertain offers for his transfer.
“He will return to Portugal next season more experienced, having gained valuable minutes and experience in a league as competitive as the Spanish one” the newspaper concludes.
