Determined to improve the performance of its midfield, Real Madrid have set their sights on Martín Zubimendi, a midfielder who plays for Real Sociedad.
His arrival could mean the definitive conversion of Frenchman Aurélien Tchouaméni to centre-back.
This season, Real Madrid has struggled to meet the expectations set by their coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
The departure of their dependable German midfielder, Toni Kroos, has created a significant void in the squad.
To remedy this, the club is concentrating on reinforcing various positions. Among the numerous players linked to the club, Martín Zubimendi is recognized as one of the most dependable and versatile midfielders in Europe.
Growing Interest on Martin Zubimendi
In a recent segment on the Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones, journalist Fran Garrido talked about Real Madrid’s increasing interest in Martin Zubimendi.
He mentioned that acquiring the player could result in Tchouaméni being transformed into a central defender.
“I’ve heard they have him in mind or are working on it. It makes sense to me, too. Because if you want to convert Tchouaméni into a central defender…,” he remarked.
Zubimendi’s contract with Real Sociedad extends until June 2027, and his transfer would necessitate Real Madrid paying his release clause, which is set at €60 million.
Persuading the player to make the move might prove difficult, considering his strong loyalty to his current club, the txuri urdin.
Recently, Martin Zubimendi acknowledged the ongoing speculation but emphasized that he remains focused and is not swayed by outside distractions. “
It’s just noise. There will always be rumors, especially with January approaching, but I don’t waste energy on external chatter. I’m content with how I’m managing it and will continue to do so” he stated.
