Juventus’ board is working on the firm idea of signing António Silva or another new defender during the winter transfer market.

The Portuguese António Silva is the main option, although the sporting management is considering at least two other alternatives.

One of Juventus’ key objectives in the approaching winter transfer market is to bolster their center-back position.

The Bianconeri want to reinforce a position that has been clearly decimated following the injuries of the Brazilian Gleison Bremer and the Colombian Juan Cabal.

In a recent conversation with Sky Sport, Cristiano Giuntoli, the club’s general manager, openly discussed one of their top targets, António Silva (21, Benfica).

“António Silva is an interesting player, among others. In the January transfer market, no one reveals their intentions until the end;

it’s important to be cautious and strike at the right moment,” he stated, emphasizing the strategic approach the club is taking.

Given that signing Silva could be challenging due to his current contract with Benfica, which runs until 2027, Juventus is exploring other candidates.

One such option is David Hancko, whom Giuntoli observed during the Champions League match between Manchester City and Feyenoord.

Hancko, a 26-year-old Slovakian, has caught the eye of coach Thiago Motta. However, his transfer fee could pose a significant financial hurdle.

Another potential target is Milan Skriniar (29), a former Inter Milan defender currently at Paris Saint-Germain.

Skriniar appears to be out of favor at PSG and could potentially switch teams relatively easily. Nevertheless, his high salary and the question of whether his playing style aligns with Motta’s tactical priorities could complicate the negotiations.

Juventus’ proactive approach in the transfer market highlights their commitment to reinforcing the squad to maintain competitiveness in domestic and international competitions.

As the winter transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on the club’s management to see how they navigate these challenges and whether they can secure the defensive reinforcements they need.
