The FC Barcelona board is not planning to make any signings during the upcoming winter transfer window. The club is also not willing to facilitate the departure of any of the members of the current squad.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, it seems that FC Barcelona will bypass the winter transfer market entirely.

The report indicates that the club’s leadership does not plan to spend any money throughout January.

While first team manager Hansi Flick would welcome the opportunity to bolster his squad with two full-backs and a center-forward, the club has chosen to maintain its current roster until the summer.

This decision is aimed at giving the club more time to address its ongoing financial challenges.

Consequently, the club is not contemplating any exits that might weaken the team. The media outlet notes, “The coach and the sports management are not in favor of reducing players, even though some individuals are requesting the club to allow them to leave in search of more playing time that they are not getting at Montjuïc.”

This position may disappoint Eric García and Ansu Fati, who have been considering a change of scenery due to their limited roles.

The 23-year-old defender has only played 531 minutes over 12 matches, while the forward has seen just 158 minutes in seven games.

Financial Focus

The choice to avoid the winter transfer market is in line with the club’s overall strategy to stabilize its finances.

By refraining from new signings or player departures, FC Barcelona aims to maintain the current balance of the squad and avoid unnecessary costs.

The club’s financial well-being remains a top priority, and this cautious approach underscores their commitment to long-term stability.

Although the coach is eager for new players, the board’s priority on financial recovery means the team will have to continue the season with the current roster.

This choice highlights the challenging balance between urgent sporting requirements and the club’s financial situation.
