As January approaches, Enzo Maresca and Chelsea are preparing to part ways with several players during the winter transfer window.

Surprisingly, some of these exits may involve individuals who were brought in just last summer.

After enduring a couple of challenging seasons, Chelsea is finally experiencing a revival. Under the guidance of coach Enzo Maresca, the team is in contention for the title, boasting eight consecutive victories, and fans are hopeful about competing with Liverpool for the championship until the very end.

The primary goal for the London board is to return to the Champions League after a two-year absence, having invested over a billion euros in the transfer market since 2022.

Back in mid-August, Chelsea had 52 players under contract. While the squad has since been trimmed, some players who haven’t found a place in the team are seeing minimal playing time.

Notable examples include Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, Deivid Washington, and several promising young talents.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall Nears Departure

Another player who is struggling for game time and is becoming frustrated is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined Chelsea last summer from Leicester for just over 35 million euros.

Unfortunately, he hasn’t received the playing time he anticipated, having logged only 55 minutes in the Premier League and mostly appearing in the Conference League, a lesser competition where Enzo Maresca tends to use substitutes.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea is set to allow Dewsbury-Hall to leave in January.

Enzo Maresca himself hinted at this by stating, “When the transfer market is open, unfortunately, anything can happen. The only thing I can say about Kiernan is that we are very satisfied with his work ethic and performances. It ultimately comes down to an agreement between the club and the player. All I can say is that we are pleased with Kiernan; beyond that, we will see.”

A Busy January Awaits Enzo Maresca

As Chelsea looks to refine their squad and move on players who aren’t seeing enough action, January is set to be a bustling month.

The possible exits of summer signings like Dewsbury-Hall underscore the club’s dedication to keeping a balanced and competitive team.

Fans should anticipate notable activity in the transfer market as Chelsea seeks to bolster their standing and maintain their successful streak in the Premier League.

How well the club manages this busy period will be vital in their pursuit of both domestic and European success. The upcoming months will surely play a crucial role in shaping the team’s achievements.
