Borussia Dortmund is looking to strengthen their squad for the 2025-2026 season and has identified two players from Bayern Munich as potential targets.

However, pursuing these signings poses significant financial challenges. With only fifteen Bundesliga matches played, Dortmund has already fallen behind in the title race, trailing leaders Bayern Munich by eleven points.

Currently in sixth place, the team from Signal Iduna Park is under scrutiny for their transfer market strategies.

Borussia Dortmund’s Bold Transfer Plans: Targeting Top Talent

Dortmund is considering several players in the transfer market, including two from Bayern Munich. However, these options are complicated by financial limitations.

According to reports from Sport Bild, the first target is Leroy Sané (28), a former Manchester City player whose future at Bayern is uncertain.

Sané’s contract is set to expire on June 30, and he has attracted interest from several top European clubs. However, his €20 million annual salary at the Allianz Arena makes it difficult for Dortmund to bring him on board.

In addition to Sané, Dortmund is also keen on signing Paul Wanner (19). The young midfielder is currently on loan at FC Heidenheim and will return to Bayern Munich next summer when his loan ends.

However, Bayern Munich is expected to demand €20 million for his transfer, which poses another challenge for Dortmund. Given these financial obstacles, it appears unlikely that either of these signings will come to fruition.

Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Leroy Sané and Paul Wanner underscores their desire to enhance the squad with top-tier talent. Sané, known for his impressive skills and attacking capabilities, would significantly strengthen Dortmund’s offensive options.

However, his high salary presents a major hurdle. Conversely, Paul Wanner, a young and promising player, could add depth to Dortmund’s midfield. Still, the €20 million transfer fee set by Bayern Munich limits Dortmund’s ability to secure his services.

The pursuit of Sané and Wanner reflects Borussia Dortmund’s ambition to compete at the highest level, but the financial challenges are a critical factor.

The club needs to assess its financial situation carefully and consider other possibilities in the transfer market.
