AC Milan Blocks Barcelona’s Moves for Tijjani Reijnders 

Tijjani Reijnders, who caught the eye of FC Barcelona last summer, is now on the verge of extending his contract with AC Milan.

Recognizing the interest he has generated, the Rossoneri have moved quickly to secure his future with the club.

Last summer, FC Barcelona’s sporting director, the Portuguese Deco, reached out to Tijjani Reijnders’ camp.

He suggested the possibility of Reijnders stepping in as Sergio Busquets’ successor, but the player was hesitant about taking on such a significant role.

“It’s certainly flattering that they wanted him, especially since it’s Barça, but they were looking for a replacement for Sergio Busquets.

I also told Tijjani: ‘You’re not that type of player.’ Before you know it, you find yourself on the bench, and you become just another player who struggles abroad,” his father, Martin Reijnders, shared recently.

It remains to be seen if, following these rejections and the addition of players like Marc Bernal and Marc Casado, Barcelona will renew their interest in him.

Meanwhile, AC Milan has initiated steps to ensure the Dutch midfielder’s long-term stay with the club.

The Plan for Tijjani Reijnders

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Rossoneri are very pleased with his contributions and are looking to extend his contract beyond 2028.

“The plan is to add another year and improve his salary to ward off any temptations: both sides are eager to continue this partnership, and there is a lot of satisfaction,” the newspaper reports.

In addition to Barcelona, another top European club has also considered pursuing the former AZ Alkmaar player in recent months.

Manchester City views him as a strong alternative for the injured Rodri Hernández.

However, unless circumstances change, the skyblues are expected to remove his name from their list of targets.
