FC Barcelona have had a remarkable start to the season.
The arrival of Hansi Flick to the bench has brought about a radical change in the Barcelona team, which is offering a truly eye-catching game and reaping outstanding results.
However, despite everything going swimmingly on the pitch, in the offices they have to get their act together on various complicated issues. There are four that stand out.
According to the newspaper Sport, the contracts of four players set to expire in 2026 require urgent attention.
First on the list is Pedri (21), whose situation is relatively straightforward.
Deco is keen to renew the contract of the young midfielder, and discussions with his agent are progressing positively.
Pedri is eager to continue his journey in Barcelona, and a new contract is expected to be finalized this season.
Two challenging cases
Gavi (20) finds himself in a similar position. He wishes to remain at the club, and Barcelona views him as a vital asset for both now and in the future.
However, negotiations with Gavi’s representatives have yet to commence, making this situation slightly less advanced, though the club remains optimistic.
As for Ronald Araújo (25), the situation is more complicated.
While waiting to return to the pitch after his injury and the role he will have in the team, the player wants to stay and FC Barcelona wants him to stay, but the positions between both parties are still far apart.
Neither the agent nor the player are happy with some of the club’s gestures in recent times, especially when they tried to push him out of the door.
Within Barça, there are even fears that the player will stay until 2026 and then say goodbye with a free transfer under their arm.
While Hansi Flick holds him in high regard, this sentiment is not universally shared within the club. It’s clear that the coming months will be quite eventful.
