The team currently sits nine points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, and their Champions League prospects are uncertain with important matches on the horizon.

In a frank acknowledgment, Pep Guardiola recently remarked, “We are not winning, we have to win. It doesn’t matter what problems we have, we have to do it and we are not doing it.

I know that we will be ourselves again as soon as we have a good result and the whole team is available. All I want is to have all the players, the whole squad. I still think that we have a very good squad, the problem is that not everyone is available.

It is not that they are good or bad players, that is not our problem, but that they are not available to play.” These statements highlight the precarious situation Manchester City finds itself in.

As often happens in such situations, a poor run of form has sparked a wave of speculation about potential solutions for the club. The list of possible signings is extensive and continues to grow as the winter transfer window approaches.

Guimaraes and Zubimendi Are Priorities

Among the names being discussed, one prominent option is Joshua Kimmich, who previously played under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

Kimmich has not yet renewed his contract with the Bavarian club, making him a feasible target for City.

However, the club’s management is considering various options. According to ‘TEAMtalk‘, two names have surfaced as key targets for the midfield in January.

The first is Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes (27), who made the move to Newcastle from Olympique Lyon in 2022 for €45 million.

This season, Guimaraes has played in 20 official matches, scoring one goal and providing four assists for the Magpies. His performances have positioned him as a top target for Pep Guardiola.

The second priority is Spanish international Martin Zubimendi (25), an essential player in Real Sociedad’s midfield. Zubimendi has appeared in 21 matches this season, contributing one goal and two assists.

He has previously rejected substantial offers from clubs like Liverpool and is also being monitored by Real Madrid. His steady performances have made him a highly sought-after player, and Manchester City is eager to secure his talents.

Pep Guardiola Prepares for a Busy January

January is set to be an eventful month for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s commitment to strengthening his squad could result in significant activity in the transfer market.

Bringing in players like Guimaraes and Zubimendi could provide the much-needed boost to turn City’s season around.

As the transfer window nears, the football community will be closely observing how Manchester City maneuvers through this critical period.

The results of their signings could greatly influence their pursuit of trophies and their performance in both domestic and European competitions.

The speculation and anticipation only heighten the excitement, making this an intriguing chapter in Manchester City’s ongoing journey.
