Recently, it was confirmed that Jürgen Klopp will be joining Red Bull. The 57-year-old German coach is embarking on this new venture, with several details, including financial aspects, starting to emerge.
Klopp has caught everyone off guard in recent months. He first announced his departure from Liverpool, a club he had led for several years, leaving a significant void that Dutchman Arne Slot is now attempting to fill.
In July, Klopp took it a step further by stating he had no intention of returning to coaching. He remarked, “I have also coached the best clubs in the world. Maybe we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and my contacts. At the moment there is absolutely nothing in terms of jobs. There is no club, there is no country. Being a coach again? I am ruling it out for the moment.” This effectively ended speculation about his potential candidacy for positions at FC Barcelona or Bayern Munich, among others.
A lucrative salary
As if that weren’t enough, just a couple of days ago, his new role was officially announced. Red Bull declared that Klopp has been appointed the new “global head of football” for the Austrian multinational energy drink company, which owns and sponsors several sports teams.
Today, the newspaper ‘Bild’ disclosed important information regarding Klopp’s salary when he begins his role on January 1, 2025. His salary is expected to be between 8 and 11 million euros per year, a significant drop from the 20 to 22 million he earned at Liverpool. While this is about half of his previous salary in England, it remains a substantial amount.
