Khvicha Kvaratskhelia future is still a hot topic of speculation.
The Georgian striker is hinting at the possibility of renewing his contract with Napoli, but he has some clear conditions.
Recently, the two sides have been moving closer together in their negotiations.
Last summer, it seemed like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (23) would be leaving Napoli sooner rather than later, as the two parties appeared to be miles apart.
However, the situation has shifted dramatically in the past few weeks, and now the winger is closer than ever to extending his stay with the sky blues.
This is at least underlined by the information published by the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report states that several meetings have taken place between Kvaratskhelia’s representatives and the top officials of the Neapolitan club to discuss a contract extension until 2029.
Two key issues remain to be addressed
The newspaper indicates that the salary gap has narrowed significantly.
Napoli is offering 5 million euros per year, while the player is asking for 6 million, which would align him with Romelu Lukaku, the highest earner on the team.
Furthermore, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia wants his salary to increase over the years, reaching between 8 and 9 million, a figure that Napoli considers too high.
Another point of contention is the striker’s release clause.
Kvaratskhelia is seeking a clause set at 80 million euros, but president Aurelio De Laurentiis is opposed to including it.
If he were to agree, Napoli would insist on a minimum of 120 million euros.
